Monday
Where: Calgary (home)
Weather: Warm to hot.
What I did in my non-blogging life: This is the first day of August, and also the first Monday of August, so it’s a civic holiday here. It’s also a Carole King song.
For a long time this holiday has had a name, but the name is different in each province and some provinces don’t have a holiday at all, I’m told. Pity.
This is just August Long Weekend to me but if I could remember that it is Heritage Day I could also be on the ball and realize that Calgary Heritage Week is probably sometime around now.
Guess what? I missed it all! That is rather disappointing but my own fault.
Trivia you know
“Do you always watch for the longest day of the year and then miss it?
I always watch for the longest day in the year and then miss it.”
The flakey Daisy Buchanan in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
But today I walked a lot! Went for a long walk because I felt like it.
And my FitBit is driving me to stay ahead of my friends. I am way ahead of my friends and this never happens.
My friends are away without Internet so they can’t post their FitBit steps. My victory is hollow but as close as I will ever get to a win so I’ll take it.
What I did in my blogging life:
Not a heck of a lot, I’m afraid. It’s a holiday.
My Instagram picture today was a tree’s shadow across the grass and bluebells at Kew Gardens in the spring when I was there with Nancy and Anna.
