Calgary to Vancouver and Back: Adventure-a-Day #5

image

Another hasty post, done in the arrivals area at YYC (Calgary International Airport).
Mountains in Alberta are blue, tall, sharp, massive and individual.
Mountains in BC are gentle shades of blue ranging from dark to light. The ranges fill the horizon in layers. The result looks like a piece of art, using overlapping construction paper cut-outs of mountains to create a 3D effect.

The picture is on another topic: how the animals can cross the Trans Canada Highway in Banff National Park. They walk on top of the bridge, which is designed and built for the purpose of reducing road kill. They work but there are still accidents when the animals don’t use their crosswalks and the people don’t obey the speed limit and drive for the conditions.

Remember the several hundred(?) tunnels underneath the highways for animals. There are only four bridges, methinks… tunnels are important.

Thanks for your comment, Barbara. I remember the tunnels, though I don’t recall how many there were. I think the problem was that the predators used them as handy food dispensers, waiting for the unsuspecting prey to come out. I wonder if any tunnels are still in use.

Thanks for stopping by. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this post or anything else on this website.
